TD-SCDMA Update

- According to Sina.com, the TD-SCDMA Industry Alliance is planning to construct a TD-SCDMA trial network in Shengzhen for approximately five million RMB. The alliance will support manufacturers in this region with TD-SCDMA technology in order to boost TD-SCDMA penetration.
- China Unicom has stated that it is planning to upgrade its CDMA (Code Division Multiplexing) / GSM (Global System for Mobile Communication) networks to 3G systems; however, upgrade timetable will vary with the Chinese government's 3G license issuance. According to China Unicom, upgrades are expected to be completed in three to six months after receiving the 3G licenses
